The live Record Store Day action is hotting up and HMV will spread their specials over the entire weekend.
Record Store Day takes place April 18 and, to coincide with the event, HMV hosts HMV Record Fest across Saturday and Sunday. Aside from the fact that there will be 40% off vinyl records, a number of Irish acts are set to play local stores and partner venue Whelan's. Here's what's happening:
HMV Henry Street, curated by Whelan’s: The Mighty Stef | Buffalo Sunn | Cry Monster Cry | Tucan | The Flaws | Riot Tapes
HMV Limerick, curated by Dolan’s: Fox Jaw | The Claire Watts Band | Changing Trains | Local DJs
HMV Galway, curated by Roisin Dubh: Daithi | The Academic
HMV Belfast, curated by Limelight: Peter McVeigh | Allie Bradley
More acts will be announced closer to the event.
HMV Record Fest will take place in all nine HMV stores in the country, located at Dublin (Grafton Street | Henry Street | Dundrum Town Centre | Liffey Valley); Galway; Limerick; Belfast; Newry and Ballymena; as well as at the HMV Xtra-vision stores in Kilkenny, Letterkenny and Wexford.
The live music continues with two exclusive gigs by HamsandwicH (Saturday April 18 at 1.00pm) and Mundy (Sunday April 19 at 4.30pm) in Whelan’s.
Anyone who purchases Hamsandwich's Stories From The Surface on Friday from HMV Grafton Street, Henry Street, Limerick or Galway; or from HMV Xtra-vision Navan or Kells; will receive a wristband to the HamsandwicH gig in Whelan's the following day.
Similarly, anyone who purchases Mundy’s self-titled album on Friday from HMV Grafton Street, Henry Street, Dundrum, Galway or Limerick will receive a wristband to the Mundy gig.
