They were President Higgins' favourite album of last year (he revealed to Hot Press in our current celebratory 900th issue). Now they've won the Meteor Choice Music Prize.
The transatlantic traditional super group featuring Clare-born fiddle virtuoso Martin Hayes and his long-time collaborator, Chicago based guitarist Dennis Cahill, along with Cork-born sean-nós singer Iarla Ó Lionáird, Dubliner Caoimhin Ó Raghallaigh on "hardanger" fiddle and New York pianist Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman) released their eponymously titled debut album in 2014 and played three sell out concerts in the National Concert Hall over the last few days.
Unfortunately the band themselves were not able to attend on the evening as they're due to start a tour in Australia in about 33 hours time. Below find the epic "Opening Set" so you can see them in action.
Earlier in the evening The Script won song of the year for the epic Superheroes.
