U2 scoop Golden Globe for Best Song From A Motion Picture with 'The Hands That Built America'. Next stop: the Oscars
The champagne corks were popping last night as U2 won their first Golden Globe Award for 'Best Song From A Motion Picture'.
A major achievement given that 'The Hands That Built America' was up against such quality opposition as Madonna's 'Die Another Day' and Eminem's 'Lose Yourself'.
Elton John was on hand to present the gong to The Edge and Bono who, ever the silver-tongued devil, remarked "This is really fucking brilliant!"
Meanwhile, February 8 sees the start of a six month-long U2 retrospective at the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
"We've been donating stuff to the Hall of Fame over the years and I've been there a couple of times and it's a great facility," says The Edge. "It's fascinating to wander around. We give them any help we can."

In The Name Of Love: Two Decades Of U2 features more than two dozen pieces of clothing, instruments provided by all four band members, original lyric manuscripts, stage set designs, personal correspondence and video and animation cells.
As if that wasn't retina-pleasing enough, there are exhibitions featuring Anton Corbijn's photos (February-May) and Steve Averill and his Four 5 One team's artwork (May-September).
Finally, fans can finally get hold of U2's version of 'Beat On The Brat' when We're A Happy Family: A Tribute To The Ramones receives its worldwide release on February 11. Also featured on the album are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rob Zombie, Eddie Vedder, Metallica, Kiss, Marilyn Manson, Garbage, Green Day, The Pretenders, Motorhead, Rancid, Pete Yorn, The Offspring, Rooney, Tom Waits and John Frusciante.
