THE CRANBERRIES 'ZOMBIE' BANNED BY CBS

In a spectacularly clumsy piece of censorship, CBS have judiciously edited an American Rock Star: Supernova contestant’s rendition of ‘Zombie’.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 28 Aug 2006

The producers of the show, which aims to find a lead singer for Tommy Lee’s new band, decided to delete all mentions of tanks, bombs and guns from Dilana Robichaux’s performance, which had gone down a (desert) storm with the judges.

Although CBS have declined to comment, a network mole claims they were worried that the Cranberries song might be seen as an anti-Iraq War statement.

Meanwhile, Noel Hogan has announced details of a new four-song EP, Black Hair, which will be available in late October.

Having produced the tracks himself, the Cranberries guitarist has now turned the masters over to ex-Suede man Bernard Butler.

“I got the first mix of ‘Black Hair’ from Bernard, and was blown away by it,” Hogan tells the Zombieguide.com fansite. “The track sounds so strong now. There are one or two things more he wants to do with it but it’s almost finished.”
