The iconic bar has announced it will not be closing it's doors despite recent rumours.
Sweeney's bar has announced they will not be closing their doors despite and earlier announcement stating that the bar had been sold.
On May 11 the bar announced it had been sold and would be closing it's doors for good. Sweeney's had become central to the Dublin music scene over the years and the news provoked reaction from punters all over the city.
Much to the delight of customers Sweeney's announced it would be 'Business as usual', on their Facebook page.
"So we didn't see this one coming but we're delighted to announce: Sweeney's is under new ownership and will remain open for business. We know the rumour mill has been in full swing over the last few months and we all feared the worst, a Wetherspoons, a cocktail bar, a gin and board game emporium, but fear not, Sweeney's will remain Sweeney's and continue to bring you the most vital live acts, club nights and Djs this country has to offer."
We have to say we're delighted with the news. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for information and any upcoming events in the future.
