Six Member Becomes Mayor Of Cobh

Sinead Sheppard, previous member of talent show winning band Six, begins her post as Mayor of Cobh today.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 15 Jun 2012

The Irish singer and dancer rose to fame in the 2001 television series, Popstars. Sheppard was just 19 when she joined the band along with fellow members Emma O’Driscoll, Kyle Anderson, Sarah Keating, Andy Orr and Liam McKenna.

They went on to release two multi-platinum selling singles, both of which reached number one in the Irish Singles Chart. Their first single ‘A Whole Lot Of Loving’ is the third fastest-selling single in Irish musical history. Before the band’s swift demise, they went on a successful arena tour with Westlife in the UK.

Following this, Sinead formed her own dance school in her home town of Cobh. She also appeared as a judge’s adviser on The All Ireland Talent Show.

She always had an interest in politics, and in recent years she spoke of her intentions to pursue a political career. We wish her well on this new venture.
