The star was 89 years old...
Lauren Bacall, whose credits included classics such as The Big Sleep and Key Largo, has passed away at her family home at the age of 89.
It is believed that the Hollywood star, considered by many to be one of the finest femme fatales to grace the silver screen, suffered a stroke.
“With deep sorrow, yet with great gratitude for her amazing life, we
confirm the passing of Lauren Bacall,” read the brief statement on the Bogart Estate Twitter account, alongside a photo of Bacall receiving her honorary Oscar in 2009.

She continued to appear in films up until her passing, delivering notable late-career turns in Jonathan Glazer's Birth and Lars Von Trier's Dogville.
