Irish actress Saoirse Ronan and British actor/director Alan Rickman are among the stars helping to bring the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival to a stirring conclusion this weekend
Saoirse Ronan is scheduled to appear at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival 2015 this afternoon. Saoirse, who is one of Ireland’s most important new acting talents in decades, will attend a screening of her latest film Lost River. a fantasy-noir outing directed by film star Ryan Gosling. The Oscar-nominated actress made her name in roles in films such as Atonement (2007), The Lovely Bones (2009) and The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014).
Seven years after she last appeared at JDIFF, Ronan is returning to introduce her latest work, which will be screened in Cineworld on Saturday 28th March at 4.15pm. Lost River also stars Matt Smith, Christina Hendricks and Ben Mendelsohn and focuses on a waitress struggling to raise her two children in the ruins of a city. The film has been described as "a dark modern fairytale that marks the debut of a raw filmmaking talent."
Other Irish stars who will appear at the festival include Orla Brady, Jack Reynor and Robbie Sheehan while international guests include Julie Andrews, Ryan O’Neal, Danny Huston, Russell Crowe, Kim Cattrall and Vincent Perez.

Leading English actor Alan Rickman is also in town for the festival. He will be attending the screening of his film A Little Chaos, which shows today, Saturday 28th March, in Cineworld at 6.15pm. Rickman is know for his iconic acting roles in film such as Die Hard and the Harry Potter franchise. However he has taken up the reigns to direct this period drama, starring Kate Winslet, who plays a widowed landscape gardener in 17th century Paris who is commissioned to work on the gardens of Versailles and develops a close relationship with the chief landscape gardener. Rickman will be participating in a public interview after the screening of the film.
