Ahead of a much-anticipated Longitude debut and fresh from a thunderous Glastonbury set, Rudimental sat down with Ed Power to discuss the bittersweet Glasto performance, their 2012 smash hit 'Feel the Love,' and working with Steely Dan.
The last 18 months have seen Rudimental garner a number one album, Mercury Music Prize nomination and a Brit Award for the whirlwind single 'Feel the Love.' Unsurprisingly, the London four-piece's set at this year's Glastonbury Festival got off to a famous start, but ended unceremoniously at the hands of a snap thunderstorm.
“There was a lightening strike somewhere on the site and suddenly all these security guys came on saying you have to get off,” recalls the band's Amir Amor. “I don't think the audience knew what was going on – WE didn't know what was going on.
“We were pretty upset. Leon [Rolle, the group's inhouse DJ] was in tears.”
It wasn't all bad news – before the men in hi-vis vests ushered the unlucky urban pop outfit offstage, they did get to premier the new single 'Bloodstream' and collaborator Ed Sheeran was on hand to assist.

“I've known Ed for years – since long before he was famous,” says Amor, “The first time I laid eye on him was at a house party. It was a friend's birthday; Ed was playing music. Back then, that's what he was always doing, playing music.”
