Paul Williams will also submit original material for The Book Of Life.
The Book Of Life is an upcoming animated film based on Mexican folklore. Keeping with the theme, the film's soundtrack boasts mariachi and norteño versions of popular songs, including Radiohead's 'Creep', Biz Markie's 'Just A Friend' and Mumford & Sons' 'I Will Wait'. The film, scheduled for an October 17 release, also utilizes covers of the likes of Elvis Presley and Rod Stewart, along with original material from songwriting legend Paul Williams.
"Using norteño and mariachi music communicates to the audience Mexican culture is international," producer Guillermo del Toro told Billboard. "Mexico is more than folklore – it's the way we filter the influence of the world."
