The 'You Sexy Thing' star has passed at the age of 71.
Some sad news filtering through to HP Towers: Errol Brown, most famous for fronting Hot Chocolate, has died at his home in the Bahamas. The 71-year-old had been battling liver cancer.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, and having moved to the UK as a youngster, he broke into music in 1969 when he sang on a cover of 'Give Peace A Chance' that was released with John Lennon's approval.
He went on to sing and write for the high-charting soul act Hot Chocolate, scoring hits with the likes 'Every 1's A Winner', 'So You Win Again' and 'You Sexy Thing', which went Top 10 in three different decades.
He was also pals with U2's Larry Mullen, and is name checked in the liner notes of No Line On The Horizon.
Brown received an MBE in 2003 and an Ivor Novello for outstanding contribution to music a year later. He undertook a 'Farewell Tour' in 2009.
May he rest in peace.
