REM to play Dublin residency
American supergroup REM are to play a residency at The Olympia as a "working rehersal" of their new album.
As revealed on hotpress.com, Michael Stipe & co will be working with Dubliner Garret 'Jacknife' Lee on their new album, the follow-up to Around The Sun.
They'll be showcasing songs from their springtime session at five shows in The Olympia on June 30, July 1, 3, 4 and 5.
“Returning to Dublin for our live rehearsal this summer provides the great start we need for our next album’s work,” comments Michael.
Bassist Mike Mills also insists that the venue was chosen by the band as they've seen everyone "from the Waterboys to Lou Reed" at the venue. "I am thrilled to play at this wonderful venue, and in front of some of the best fans in the world,” he gushes.
Tickets are available from REM's site and the Olympia box office from tomorrow, March 31, at 9am.
