Planx for the memories

Planxty get a new lease of life care of a one hour No Disco special

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 20 Feb 2003

The Planxty revival starts here! Yup, March 5 finds No Disco paying fulsome – and somewhat unexpected! – tribute to the legendary tradsters with a one-hour documentary special.

A lifelong fan, Leagues O'Toole will be talking to all the people associated with the group including Christy Moore, Liam Og O'Flynn, Andy Irvine and Paul Brady.

Far from being a museum piece, the show finds David Kitt and Richie Egan updating two classic Planxty tunes, and Colm Mac Con Iomaire from The Frames and Jimmy Goodwin of Doves explaining why the group were so important to them.

You can catch the programme at 11.35pm on Network 2.
