On Saturday August 24, The Olympia Theatre will play host to a very special gig
A special Philip Chevron Testimonial gig is being organised for August 24, 2013 at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin. A star-studded cast will gather at the historic venue to perform a selection of songs penned by Chevron, and related titles.
The Pogues and Radiators From Space guitarist has revealed that the head and neck cancer for which he received treatment in 2007 – and for which he was given a clean bill of health in 2012 – has returned. Sadly, second time around, the tumour is inoperable.
Philip featured on two major 2012 releases, The Pogues In Paris and The Radiators' Sound City Beat and recently completed music commissions for The Old Vic Theatre in London and The Druid in Galway. He is widely regarded as one of Ireland's songwriting greats, with a string of superb songs to his credit.
Celebrating Philip's wonderful contribution to the world of music at the forthcoming testimonial will be a mixture of colleagues, friends and fans, including Shane MacGowan, Mary Coughlan, Paul Brady, actor Aidan Gillan, author Joseph O'Connor, The Radiators From Space, Terry Woods of The Pogues and many more.
Tickets (€30) are available from www.ticketmaster.ie from July 5
