Party hard
David Holmes and Orbital are set to launch the new, state of the art, superclub-ified 1200-capacity Tivoli, opening on March 23rd
Dublin's Tivoli Theatre is set to re-open as a 1,200 capacity superclub.
€3 million has been pumped into the operation which opens to the public on March 23rd, and will create over 100 new jobs.
Tivoli – as it's now called – is being spearheaded by The Capitol Bar's Chris Kelly, Genius' Peter May and Influx's Paul Davis who says: "This is the only club in Ireland that the principals behind it all hail from the music or entertainment scene. This kind of experience is sorely lacking in Dublin clubbing at the moment."
They certainly appear to have got the rudiments right, with a €500,000 turbo sound rig and DMX Light Control Digital Surround System already installed.
"This is not Lillie's," Davis resumes, "but we will definitely have a similar caché in terms of service and clientele and Tivoli's customer-oriented door policy will mean you can get in."
Official launch duties are being taken care of by David Holmes, with Orbital playing a rare DJ set on March 30th.
