Booka Brass Band, Sean Moncrieff & New Valley Wolves are also on the HP radar!
It’s straight in, no kissing! today as the Electric Picnic gets off to an admirably frantic start.
Along with all that lovely music, the MindField will for the first time feature live, daily satirical news broadcasts from the Waterford Whispers News crew.
With the scamps refusing to tell us precisely how they’re going to do it, you’ll have to tune in live from 8.30pm.
At 6 o’clock, former Fat Lady Sings man and Oscar nominee Nick Kelly is premiering his new stage show, SEE:HEAR, which intertwines some of his best-loved songs with a screening of his three short films, and a witty and compelling talk on the many strong links that Nick sees between making music and movies.
Located across the MindField way from the Hot Press Chatroom – a Ron Burgundy-style station vs. magazine rumble may be in order – will be Tom Dunne, Off The Ball, Movies And Booze, Sean Moncrieff and the rest of the Newstalk crew. Tom and our man Stuart Clark will be the respective team captains at 8pm when they live present the What A Load Of Buzzcocks quiz. Actually, that’d be a good time and setting for the mass Newstalk/HP brawl.
Talking of the Hot Press Chatroom, Martin Fry (4pm), Andrew Stanley (5pm), RSAG (6.30pm), Ryan Sheridan (7pm) and Booka Brass Band (7.30pm) will all be passing through our flaps.
There’s also a full Poetry + Slam line-up with Black Sabbath-loving Dublin two-piece New Valley Wolves guaranteed to make the unholiest of rackets.
