The golfer will fill Zayn Malik's shoes in September
They say there's no such thing as a free lunch, and it seems as though Rory McIlroy is finding that out the hard way.
It looked like quite the coup when the World No. 1 had Niall Horan carry his bag during the Par 3 tournament at the Masters last week, but it's come as a price; Horan has revealed that, in exchange, McIlroy will be teaming up with the band later this year.
Now a four-piece, following the teenage tragedy that was Zayn Malik's departure, the pop juggernaut will be back at full strength for a gig at the home of the New England Patriots in Foxboro this September - albeit for one song only.
"If I went on the bag with him he would come on stage and sing with us," Horan revealed. "Apparently he’s terrible.”
Given McIlroy's fourth-place finish at Augusta, we can't imagine a full-time career change is on the cards, but at least he's likely to pick up a few new Twitter followers...
