Hot Press' Olaf Tyaransen will be performing and interviewing live at Electric Picnic in Stradbally this weekend.
The acclaimed journalist and author will be “doing some verbals” ((c) BP Fallon) on The Word Stage in the Mindfield area at 4.45pm on Saturday.
His festival appearance coincides with the upcoming e-book releases of his bestselling journalism collections, Palace of Wisdom and Selected Recordings 2000-2010. The books feature his encounters with such diverse figures as Allen Ginsberg, JP Donleavy, Lady Gaga, Bono, Hugh Hefner, Nick Cave, Larry Flynt and Courtney Love.
For a taste of what to expect at the Mindfield event, a short clip of him reading from his interview with notorious Loyalist paramilitary Johnny Adair, directed by GAF TV supremo Justin McCarthy, has just been uploaded to YouTube.

Described by the Sunday Independent as being “demonstrably the best rock 'n’ roll interviewer in the world,” Tyaransen will also be publicly interviewing a number of Irish performers – including Gavin Friday, Sharon Corr and The Rubberbandits - in the Hot Press Chatroom over the weekend. His Chatroom interview with comedian Tommy Tiernan at Electric Picnic ’09 caused a storm of international controversy.
