The band have released details of Chop Chop.
Bell X1 have confirmed the June 28 release through their own Belly Up label of Chop Chop, studio album number six, which was recorded last month at Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
The Peter Katis and Thomas Bartlett co-production will be performed in its entirety on June 29 in Dublin’s National Concert Hall followed by a ‘greatest hits’ set. Tickets are €25 (choir balcony) and €35 (general).
“Last summer the three of us got together in Dave (Geraghty)’s studio and demoed 15 songs,” Paul Noonan reveals. “We returned to simpler times, when all around here was fields piano and guitar, bass and drums... less computers and noises from boxes.
“Shrink the palette! We’ve loved some of the records that Peter Katis has made in the last few years, and the cut of Thomas Bartlett playing with The Gloaming, so when the stars aligned for two weeks in January we made a record together. We're excited about playing the National Concert Hall for the first time, especially as the record features a lot of brass moments, and we look forward to having them played by real live humans!”
Released last week as a special Valentine’s Day treat for fans, the flagship song, ‘Starlings Over Brighton Pier’, is a real beaut.
