New entries from Mary Byrne and Morrissey & Marshall give the country singer a real run for his money.
Cause for Nathan Carter to celebrate this weekend, with his Wagon Wheel Show – Live release climbing from No. 3 into pole position on the Indie Album Chart.
He's had stiff competition from newcomers, however, as Mary Byrne sees her Magic Of The Musicals debut at No. 2 and Morrissey & Marshall's And So It Began… file in just below.
The instant success of the new releases inevitably means other titles have to make room. Last week's No. 2, State Of Mind by Friends Of Emmet, is still holding strong at No. 4, while Arctic Monkeys' AM moves from No.5 to No.8.
Elsewhere, however, indie artists are building momentum. London Grammar's If You Wait goes from No. 8 to No. 5 (flipping AM's fortunes), and The Gloaming's self-titled LP goes from No. 9 to No. 6.
Finbar Furey is in 7th spot, while we have a non-mover rounding off the top 10 in the form of Future Islands' quite excellent Singles.
Any excuse to post this...
