Mystery do-gooder behind free tickets revealed

Film producer Michael Hamlyn . The entrepreneur's works include the Oscar-winning Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and U2’s Rattle and Hum.
He is a Faculty Director at Staffordshire University these days. “Derry is a fabulous city. I’m delighted to make this gesture to ensure that people from all walks of life get the chance to enjoy a great evening of music and celebration.”
The philanthropic gesture means thousands get to see Peace One Day 2012. The concert will feature Pixie Lott, Imelda May and Newton Faulkner, the Guillemots and local heroes Wonder Villains.
The event marks the three-month countdown to Peace Day 2012, a day of global ceasefire and non-violence. It takes place on September 21.
The free tickets are first come, first served.
There is a small service charge, £1.50 per ticket, and they’re limited to six per person.
Rather nicely, anyone who has already gotten their ticket can get a refund from point of purchase.
Jeremy Gilley, founder of Peace One Day said, “It’s incredible that someone has come forward to make the concert free. I’m delighted. This opens the doors to everyone. It’ll be a wonderful show in a wonderful city.”
Michael Hamlyn has had a career in the film industry since the seventies, and has worked with everyone from the Rolling Stones to U2, and back again.
