Mick Jones joins Stone Roses' Phoenix Park bill

He'll perform at the band's upcoming summer show.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 03 Apr 2012

Having delighted the Dublin Academy last Friday, Mick Jones, Pete Wylie, The Farm and the rest of the Justice Tonight posse are returning in July to warm punters up for The Stone Roses’ Phoenix Park headliner.

The band made the announcement during their ecstatically-received set, which had many a man and woman of a certain age dewy-eyed with nostalgia.

The justice they’re seeking is for the families and friends of the 96 Liverpool supporters who were killed in 1989 at Hillsborough when the Reds took Nottingham Forest on in the semi-final of the FA Cup. Despite several judicial inquiries, the full story of what happened that day and who’s to blame has never been established.

Expect plenty of Clash and The Mighty Wah! songs plus Wylie’s delightful new tune ‘The Day Margaret Thatcher Dies’ and baggy classics ‘All Together Now’ and ‘Groovy Train’, which is still worth getting on!
