Ahead of her Unitarian Church gig on November 7, the Czech singer-songwriter chats to Olaf Tyaransen about starring on the iconic animated show, as well as her new album and the end of The Swell Season.
Now living in Iceland, Marketa Irglova has a new album, Muna, and a Dublin show in the pipeline.
Talking to Hot Press, though, the memories of her appearance on The Simpsons still live strong in her mind.
"It was a lot of fun," she laughs. "I never knew whether they draw the cartoon first and then do the voiceover or the other way around. I got to find out that they do the voices first, then draw it. Seeing ourselves drawn as cartoon characters on The Simpsons was just awesome."
That appearance was made along with Glen Hansard, her then-boyfriend and The Swell Season collaborator. They broke up during an American tour in 2010, and Irglova reveals that the two are not in touch.
"Not really, no. Not out of any animosity between us. It feels more like we're in a different place in our lives."
