Notes From San Francisco comes with a bonus live CD.
Sony Music are giving a June 3 release here to Rory Gallagher's Notes From San Francisco, a 2CD set that includes a previously unreleased 1978 studio album and a live record culled from his four visits the following year to San Fran’s Old Waldorf venue.
Produced by Neil Young, Janis Joplin and The Band man Elliot Mazer, the former was shelved when Rory became frustrated with the mixing process, which he felt was “too complicated.”
His desire to return to a leaner, meaner sound was underlined a few months later when he went to see the Sex Pistols’ legendary – not entirely for the right reasons! – show in The Winterland Ballroom and described it as being “as close to Eddie Cochran as you’re going to get.”
The project is being overseen by Rory’s brother and manager Dónal and his nephew Daniel.
