Boyhood gets top prize at British awards show.
Richard Linklater's Boyhood has won big again, this time at the London Critics' Circle Film Awards. The expansive film shot over 12 years earned Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actress (for Patricia Arquette) awards in a night that also acknowledged the greatest achievements in British filmmaking in 2014.
British Film of the Year went to the acclaimed sci-fi film Under the Skin, which starred Scarlett Johansson. British Actor and Actress of the year went to Timothy Spall for his work in Mr. Turner and Rosamund Pike for Gone Girl and What We Did On Our Holiday.
Meanwhile, the main acting categories were again won by the quartet of Arquette for Supporting Actress in Boyhood, JK Simmons for Supporting Actor in Whiplash, Julianne Moore for Lead Actress in Still Alice and Michael Keaton for Lead Actor in Birdman. Each actor has taken home several awards this season and are up for more in these categories at the Oscars.
