The collaboration performance of Lady Gaga and Metallica was marred by the non-working microphone of Metallica front man James Hetfield.
On Sunday’s Grammy Awards it was proved again that live on TV anything can happen.
When Gaga and Hetfield started to perform Metallica’s “Moth Into Flame”, from their latest album Hardwired… to Self- Destruct, lead singer Hetfield could not be heard at all. After singing a few unamplified lines, he then moved over to Gaga’s mic, and the show could go on. The unexpected performance at the same microphone even added bit of extra rock showmanship to the unique mix of metal and pop.
After the technical difficulties got solved Metallica and Gaga put on a spirited show, with Lady Gaga even diving around the stage.
But even despite of the mostly successful show, it was obvious that the band was annoyed by the sound failure, when front man Hetfield threw his guitar on the stage after the performance came to an end.

Metallica’s “Hardwired” was nominated for Grammy for Best Rock Song, but lost to David Bowie’s “Black Star”.
