The first batch of acts have been confirmed for Longitude, MCD’s new boutique festival...
Kraftwerk are bringing their retina-melting 3D show to Dublin as part of the inaugural Longitude festival, which takes from July 19 – 21 in Rathfarnham, Dublin’s Marlay Park.
The Düsseldorf legends headline on the Sunday night, with Phoenix top of the Main Stage bill on Friday and Vampire Weekend the big Saturday attraction.
Gig-goers will be given glasses to appreciate the 3D graphics – robots you can almost touch, spacecraft that fly out into the crowd etc. etc. – which were showed off to stunning effect last month, when Kraftwerk played eight of their classic albums over eight nights in London’s Tate Gallery.

Their fellow headliners will both have new albums to promote, with Phoenix’s Bankrupt out here on April 19 and Vampire Weekend’s Modern Vampires Of The City dropping on May 3.
Also ready to unleash a new album are Yeah Yeah Yeahs who get in first on April 12 with Mosquito, their fourth studio album, which is trailed by electro slowburner ‘Sacrilege’.
Joining them on the Longitude undercard are Foals, Villagers, Hot Chip, Jake Bugg, Modest Mouse, Teed, Paul Kalkbrenner, SBTRKT (DJ set), Mark Lanegan, Local Natives, Django Django, Jessie Ware, Trentemøller, Kodaline, Mmoths, Tom Odell, AlunaGeorge, Flume, Cast Of Cheers, Young Wonder, Mø, Mikhael Paskalev, Sohn, Petite Noir, Half Moon Run, Vondelpark and Stealing Sheep.
And that, MCD stress, is just for starters with the full line-up – let the speculation begin! – being announced on April 8.
Early Bird tickets priced €44.50 (Day) and €129.50 (Weekend) go on sale on Monday March 4 and will be available until April 7. After that tickets are €54.50 (Day) and €149.50 (Weekend).
