U2 MANIA APPEARS to be growing by the day with tickets for their first Slane bash changing hands on the internet for £1,000 a piece.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 16 Aug 2001

“I’ve been touting for 15 years and I’ve never known demand like it,” one pavement ticket-broker tells hotpress. “There’s going to be silly money changing hands over the next couple of weeks – especially if there are Americans involved. They’re absolutely obsessed with U2.”

Meanwhile, the band were in Berlin last week shooting the video to their next US radio release, ‘Stuck In A Moment You Can’t Get Out Of’.

“The storyline features the band sitting in a stadium watching an American football game – along with hundreds of extras who were involved in the filming,” says a spokesperson. “The band took advantage of a day off to shoot the new video, following the show in Berlin’s Waldbuhne and before the first Dutch show in Arnhem.”

Completists will want to track down the “Special Tour Edition” Elevation EP, which has been put on sale in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Germany. Along with the ‘Tomb Raider Mix’ of the title-cut, the four-tracker features live versions of ‘I Remember You’, ‘New York’ and ‘I Will Follow’ that were recorded before Christmas at the Big Apple’s Irving Plaza. A limited number of copies are being made available through the Slane merchandising stands, so get there early.
