Josh Ritter rounds off a mighty successful year by signing a contract with V2 Records
Josh Ritter has just confirmed details of a worldwide contract with V2 Records.
It’s a major coup for the Idaho native whose DIY labors found him major success in Ireland and the UK this year. The new deal means that his next album will be released around the world on V2 Records, excluding Ireland where Ritter will remain on Independent Records.
His most recent gold-selling album Hello Starling was released in Ireland and the US in autumn of last year, with Setanta Records agreeing to release it in the UK earlier this year. And it was a decisive step for Ritter’s career with his ‘Snow Is Gone’ single becoming one of the most played songs on BBC Radio 2.
Meanwhile, it seems that Irish fans couldn’t get enough of Josh Ritter, with a series of sell-out shows around the country and a headlining appearance during the summer’s Green Energy Festival in Dublin.
If you missed that performance, or simply want to relive it, tune in to 2FM this Sunday, December 12, at 8pm.

The broadcast will kick off Week of the Ritter, as it were, with a series of shows lined up at the Cork Opera House (December 13), Dublin’s Vicar St. (16 & 17), and Galway’s Black Box Theatre (19).
Tickets for all shows, except the sold out gig on December 16, are still available from the usual outlets.
Fans can also look forward to some new releases in the New Year, with V2 set to repackage Hello Starling as a bonus CD of tracks recorded in Ireland. Independent Records will be making the double pack available to Irish fans, as well as a stand-alone EP featuring those new tracks.
