Josh Ritter has announced details of his new album, The Animal Years, and an accompanying nationwide Irish tour.
Out on March 3, it features ‘Girl In The War’, ‘Wolves’, ‘Monster Ballads’, ‘Lillian Egypt’, ‘Idaho’, ‘In The Dark’, ‘One More Mouth’, ‘Good Man’, ‘Best For The Best’, ‘Thin Blue Flame’ and ‘Here At The Right Time’.
You can cop a live earful at the Blackbox, Galway (March 5); An Grianan, Letterkenny (7); Dolan’s, Limerick (8); St. James’ Church, Dingle (9); Christchurch, Dublin (10, all ages); and Everyman Theatre, Cork (12).
18-plus members of the Christchurch crowd will also be able to attend a free after-party in the nearby Shelter, where Josh and the band will be on hand to sign autographs. All-in commemorative tickets are available in person only from Road Records 16b Fade St, D2.
Ritter should be in peak physical condition having recently run his first marathon in Phoenix, Arizona in a highly impressive 3 hours and 32 minutes.
Support throughout is provided by Corb Lund, a “foothills-raised rodeo kid” from Southern Alberta whose Hair In My Eyes Like A Highland Steer album includes a guest appearance by Dylan’s mate Ramblin’ Jack Elliot.
We’ll have more – much more – on the boy Ritter over the coming weeks.
