Joan As Policewoman added to Liss Ard line-up

The star plays the Sunday down in Skibbereen.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 21 Jun 2012

Liss Ard, the new name for Cork X Southwest, takes place on the weekend of August 4 and 5 at Liss Ard House in Skibbereen and will boast a wider artistic, cultural and holistic outlook than ever before.

With the likes of Lisa Hannigan set to headline and turns from the legendary likes of Blue Nile-man Paul Buchanan and Toots & The Maytals promised, we now have confirmation that the fabulous Joan As Policewoman is set to play on the second day.

As well as that, the festival will pay tribute to the region's fine food producers, with a selection of treats on offer including local cheese, artisan smoked fish and specialist charcuterie.

Getting slightly more highbrow, the Literary Stage line-up has now been announced. You can catch MIMIC, a play written and performed by Ray Scannell, a performance from poetic punk Jinx Lennon, underground poetry and an appearance from Ross O'Carroll-Kelly creator Paul Howard over the two days.

In addition, music will come from the likes of Interference, Roy Harper, local Cork star (and recent Irish No.1) Mick Flannery, Rhob Cunningham, The MacRae Sisters and ex-Sugar man Bob Mould – who’ll be playing the whole of his classic Copper Blue album. There will also, Hot Press has confirmed, be an appearance by the West Cork Ukelele Orchestra!

Tickets are €39.50 (Day), €70.50 (Two-Day Non-Camping) and €89.50 (Two-Day, with Camping).
