Jedward - for or against?
Love them or loathe them, you certainly can't ignore our cover co-stars...
Never before has an Irish musical act so divided music fans into love and loathe compartments as Jedward are doing.
In the latest issue of Hot Press out today (which features a special Pop Vs Rock double cover of the boys and Gary Lightbody), we talk exclusively to the Grimes Brothers, as well as taking soundings from musicians and music industry insiders as to how they evaluate Ireland’s latest musical phenomenon.
In what they call their "Jinterview", they talk openly about Edward’s recent leg trouble - as he says himself, "It was like the whole Michael Jackson thing. They were like ‘We nearly lost Edward!’”
According to the band’s manager Louis Walsh, "They’re not great singers. We all know that. But they have an extraordinary appeal. Girls absolutely love them."
Today FM’s Ray D’arcy claims "our audience don’t listen to Jedward", while the station’s head of music Brian Adams says, “As far as sugary pop goes they seem like harmless kids and they’re not hurting anybody… ”
Peter Aiken of Aiken Promotions says “This is pop at its best.”
The debate rages on...!
The latest issue is available now. Which cover will you choose?!
