It's been seven years since British group Jamiroquai released their last album Rock Dust Light Star. Right now, the band are working together with the UK label Virgin EMI Records to get the follow-up, Automaton, released this Friday, March 31.
"The inspiration for Automaton is in recognition of the rise of artificial intelligence and technology in our world today and how we as humans are beginning to forget the more pleasant, simple and eloquent things in life and in our environment including our relationship with one another as human beings."
This statement made in a press release by front man Jay Kay, made earlier this year, gives a good representation of what the album is all about. Its title track 'Automaton' shows a post-apocalyptic London destroyed by technology. Awaking from what seems a long slumber, front man Kay begins an expedition in the ruined parts of London to rediscover his senses.
The album Automaton consists of 12 new tracks with its title song freely available for streaming.
