The Trinity Summer Series begins next week, and Dublin's most exciting new festival has six fantastic acts on the agenda. Dublin hometown hero Gavin James talks to Hot Press' Max Freebern in the midst of putting the finishing touches on his long-awaited second album. He covers the recording process in the iconic Abbey Road, what fans can expect from his second album, and how he deals with the occasional rude devotee...
Elsewhere in our Summer Series feature, we look back on old interviews with the indomitable Grace Jones and Liberties legend Imelda May. We also profile the careers of fellow headliners Rag'N'Bone Man, Il Divo, and the legendary Brian Ferry. A handful of the support acts from across the week, including Wyvern Lingo, Keywest and Ultan Conlon, also share their excitement about this most unique of events.
Staying on the festival front, we take a look at the triumphant return of Knockanstockan, with the help of Derry rock heroes Wood Burning Savages. We also list the must-see acts at the Wicklow weekender.
In our features section, Pat Carty meets with studio maven, performer, radio host and new father Gavin Glass, who talks about shaking off the "country singer" tag with new album Opus Pocus; Ed Power sits down with The New Power Generation to talk about their rich musical legacy and being the definitive backing band for Prince; and the Hot Press team gives their say on an incredible three days at Longitude Festival, which featured a new generation of Irish hip-hop and RnB artists giving it their all.
In the Hot Press interview, Jason O'Toole meets with superstar chef Clare Smyth. Originally from County Antrim, Clare has worked her way to the forefront of the international restaurant scene. After spells in New York and LA, she became head chef at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, making her the first woman to run a three-star Michelin kitchen. A regular on Masterchef and Saturday Kitchen, she has now opened her own place, Core by Clare Smyth, and was named Best Female Chef 2018 by the World's Best Restaurants organisation.

In our film section. Roe McDermott meets with Whitney producer Kevin Mac Donald, who talks about training his eye to focus on all the different factors that led to the tragic, untimely death of the iconic singer, why the lazy tabloids got the story wrong, and how Whitney's public image may have destabilised her further.
In our book section, Peter McGoran meets with spoken word poet and social media sensation Yrsa Daley-Ward, whose memoir, The Terrible, is one of the most strikingly original stories of 2018.
In our frontlines section, we have a special 3-page feature on trans rights. Our reporter Laura Grainger meets with activist group, Radical Queers Resist, who are turning their campaigning momentum from the Repeal movement towards securing Trans rights and the Sex Ed Bill.
On top of all that, we also have a huge Summer Drinks Special Feature; an extensive report on how Ireland became a revolution place for tattooing; interviews with the likes of Steo Walland Tom Grennan; as well as all the usual previews, reviews and news that you'd expect from Hot Press, including coverage of the newest releases from Let's Eat Grandma, Steo Wall, A Litany Of Failures Compilation and much more.
