He takes over the slot in October.
The rumours have turned out to be true! After much speculation – some of it on hotpress.com – Hector Ó hEochagáin has been confirmed as the presenter of the new-look 2fm breakfast show, which will air weekdays from 7 to 9am.
Hector’s reign will start on October 4, with Ruth Scott taking charge in the interim.
He joins a rejigged Monday to Thursday schedule which also features:
6am – Damien Farrelly
9am – Tubridy
11am – Colm Hayes
1pm – The Golden Hour with Larry Gogan
2pm – Rick In The Afternoon with Rick O’Shea
4.30pm – All Music Drive with Will Leahy
7pm – Dave Fanning
9pm – Jenny Huston
11pm – Dan Hegarty
Elsewhere there are Friday night run outs for Jenny Greene and Mr. Spring; Baz Ashmawy and Lucy Kennedy doubling up on weekend breakfast; and a new Saturday and Sunday afternoon show co-presented by Ruth Scott and Paddy McKenna.
While the services of John Clarke, Michael Cahill and Cormac Battle have been retained, there’s no place on the new schedule for Nikki Hayes or Jim-Jim Nugent who resigned yesterday in somewhat controversial fashion.
In a 2fm first, the Saturday 10am to noon slot will be given over to a new, independently-produced programme – details of which will be announced shortly.
