The eagerly awaited Terri Hooley biopic offically launched at the Ulster Hall last night as part of the Belfast Film Festival.
The story of how Terri took on not only the musical establishment but also the paramilitaries during the height of The Troubles, it’s been funded by Snow Patrol, was co-scripted by Hot Press’ Colin Carberry and novelist Glen Patterson and is soundtracked by David Holmes.
“I got to see Good Vibrations the movie at a private showing in QFT and it was very emotional,” says Terri who lest we forget is the man who released The Undertones’ ‘Teenage Kicks’ when no one else would touch them with a very large bargepole. “It’s a brilliant film and well done to the hundreds of people involved in getting it made. One minute you’re laughing your head off and the next your’re in tears. Thank Jah that (gig booker) Steve Strange when he was over with Noel Gallagher recently took the time out to sit down in the hotel and tell me the movie scene by scene. But he did not prepare me for how brutally honest and truthful the movie was, with a great soundtrack by David Holmes. My twelve-year-old son Michael turned up like a Hollywood superstar and soon had us tramps all orgainised; it was great to see him on the big screen. Thank you everyone. My emotions are all over the place today. One Love, Uncle Terri.”
Good Vibrations will go on general release towards the end of the year.
