Or so the Hollywood star told TV3’s Xposé last night. The big question being: when will the U2 frontman be here to show him around?
George Clooney is coming to Ireland. And he is planning to hook up with Bono while he is here. Or so he told TV3 reporter Peter O'Riordan at the London premiere of his latest movie, Disney's Tomorrowland: A World Beyond.
The Irish trip was first mooted when the Hollywood pin-up spoke last year to Glenda Gilson, on TV3's Xposé. And it is still, apparently, on the agenda.
"I would like to go [to Ireland]," the star confirmed at the star-studded premiere. "They started it because I said to someone, you know a reporter, that I'd love to come to Ireland. Next thing I know I'm going to be there in a week."
Which, of course, isn't the way it panned out.
"We're going to try and get there this summer sometime," he promised. And he confirmed that he had been in touch with the U2 frontman – though how Bono would fit a guided tour into his busy gigging schedule remains to be seen.

"We've exchanged some emails," Clooney revealed. "I think we're going to stay off of the bicycle with Bono. Apparently he's very dangerous."
Peter O'Riordan tried to broach the subject of infanticipating by suggesting that Clooney – who married the British Lebanese human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin last year – worked very well with children in the new movie. The actor wasn't having any of it.
"My favourite thing was I didn't know how you were going to get it [the baby question] in," Clooney said. "But I saw you weaving it. I thought you'd go for the ‘this movie appeals to children, do you want to have children?' but you found a good way in. It was good. Have fun."
George plays inventor Frank Walker in the film. He was asked what drew him to the role.
"I wonder was it Brad Bird because he's a really wonderful writer-director," Clooney mused. "And then, I loved the script. I loved the idea of it and I loved how optimistic it was about the world."
The film also stars Britt Robertson and Raffey Cassidy and British actor Hugh Laurie.
Tomorrowland is released in the US and the UK on May 22.
