There were rumours before Christmas and now it's been confirmed - Gavin James has signed an American deal in LA with Capitol Records.
"Thanks everybody for the support, you legends," tweets the understandably excited singer-songwriter who's currently in the charts here with his Live At Whelan's set.
Gavin has been on the Trinity Street radar for a long time now with his 2012 EP, Say Hello, getting an exclusive pre-release stream on hotpress.com. He was subsequently one of our Hot For 2013 picks - the 2015 Hot For... list appearing on January 22 - and played last August as part of our Remembering Philip night in Fallon & Byrne where he comprehensively nailed 'Cowboy Song'.
Lots of his fellow Irish acts have been sending their congratulations - "Yeeeeeesssss! Well done Gav!" enthuse Little Hours; "Nice one, boss!" say Delorentos; "Well done Wiggles!" write Vann Music, referring to his real surname, Wigglesworth; "About time the labels woke up and signed ye, no brainer," opines Niall Breslin; and "So deserved, love you Gav!" is the message from Orla Gartland.
Mr. James' cause won't have been done any harm by his name being copiously bandied around by Ed Sheeran. He's certainly come a long way since The Problematic!
Gig-wise, it's back to Europe for January 16 showcase gigs at Eurosonic in Groningen where HP will most definitely be in attendance. America beckons after that followed by a run round the UK and a March 20 show in the Dublin Olympia, which is already sold-out.
