To mark the 5th anniversary of the late, great broadcaster's passing, here's one of his most memorable interviews from the Hot Press vaults.
Five years on, his absence is still keenly felt. A man of enormous character and compassion, Gerry Ryan was one of our country's greatest ever broadcasters and his death in 2010 came as a huge shock to the nation.
He was also a presence in Hot Press, appearing in the publication countless times.
To commemorate the legend as he was, here's an extensive 1990 interview with Ryan.
Penned by Liam Mackey and presented in two parts, the radio star discussed his upbringing, Charlie Haughey, the evolution of his RTE show, his TV ambitions and so much more.
