Forbidden Fruit - sneak preview!

Hot Press checks out the venue ahead of the much-anticipated fest this weekend

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 01 Jun 2011

The inaugural Forbidden Fruit Festival kicks off this Saturday, but not before team Hot Press have had a cheeky look around! We paid a visit to the apple-shaped site, located in the grounds of the Royal Irish Hospital Kilmainham, just as the Main Stage was taking shape.

Already up-and-running were the Underground and Lighthouse stages which will see performances by Jamie xx, Beardyman, Carte Blanche, Spank Rock, Solar Bears, The Subs, Erol Alkan, The Cast Of Cheers, Ham Sandwich and Squarehead over the two days.

A very fetching-looking Core bar is the centerpiece of the festival, and the surrounding areas have been prepped for craft installations, including one by an artist poached from Nevada's Burning Man festival! Elsewhere, work was getting underway on setting up food courts, lounging areas and a catwalk! If the weatherman keeps up his side of the bargain, we reckon it's going to be an absolute corker...

There are still a few tickets left for Forbidden Fruit, so take yourself over to www.ticketmaster.ie if you like what you see.

Meanwhile, check out our gallery of pics from the site here.
