In which we trump Transfer Deadline Day with The Flaming Lips, Paul McCartney, Saint Etienne, Cypress Hill and more...
Seeing as we short-changed you last fortnight, we’ve decided to have a bonus Free Music Friday (On A Tuesday). Unconventional, maybe even foolhardy, but we’ve tunes of such immense hotness that you have to hear them NOW!!!
We are extremely excited about the debut single from Cork duo Young Wonder, which is being given away at [link]soundcloud.com/young-wonder-1/young-wonder-tumbling[/link] and combines the best bits of Bjork and Moloko. Yup, it’s that good! The accompanying video also suggests they’re destined for greatness.
Next to [link]www.box.com/shared/static/vltyhdsz3ibrxfsgshe2.mp3[/link] where you can sample Odd Future spin-off outfit – busy boys or what? – The Internet.
Never ones to do things by half – or even three-quarters – The Flaming Lips managed to stretch The Beatles’ ‘I Want You (She’s So Heavy)’ out to a marathon 17mins 7secs recently when they covered it live. There’s also a new tune at [link]soundcloud.com/theflaminglips/now-i-understand[/link] featuring the sultry tones of Erykah Badu.

The Free Music Friday (On A Tuesday) Post-Rock (Albeit With Vocals) Video of the Week Award goes to Limerick’s We Come In Pieces whose ‘Sexy Rouge’ promo is almost as exciting as being in the moshpit at one of their Blind Pig gigs. There are also tunes aplenty to be streamed at [link]wecomeinpieces1.bandcamp.com/album/before-the-chains[/link]
There’s more hot streaming action at [link]www.jackwhiteiii.com[/link] where the Nashville-residing rock ‘n’ roll superhero is previewing ‘Love Interruption’ from his debut Blunderbuss solo album.
