Calling all developers and coders - Dublin is to play host to a Ticketmaster Hackathon where the local developer community will be invited to help create the best ticketing experience for fans.
Ticketmaster is serious about opening up its platform, and this Hackathon will give developers a rare insight into the company’s culture of support, development, and commitment to constant change and innovation.
It also provides an opportunity for the Ticketmaster team to get up close and code with developers from across Ireland. Here they can connect with the developer community and gain insightful feedback on the developer experience, and the new updates to Ticketmaster’s APIs.
The Hackathon – which takes place in the Digital Exchange in Dublin on Saturday, 6th May - will focus on Ticketmaster’s open API strategy, with the theme of ‘event discovery’. Here developers will use Ticketmaster’s APIs, mash them up with other APIs and ultimately create meaningful experiences for fans worldwide.
Hackers will take over the Digital Exchange in Crane Street, Dublin 8, for a day of fun, with loads of free swag, food and refreshments, and coding. There’s also a bunch of prizes to be won, from a Phantom 3 Advanced Drone to a Go Pro Hero Session Camera.
This will be Ticketmaster’s ninth Hackathon globally, with more than 500 hackers attending events in LA, Arizona, Texas, North Carolina, Quebec City and most recently in London and Berlin.

It was at the London hack event where TickX founders Pearce and Sam Coley won first prize for an event inspiration app for smart TVs they developed in just four and a half hours. The team were even featured on the first episode of Dragon’s Den this year, turning down three offers of investment – a gamble that has since paid off.
This Hackathon will be the first Ticketmaster has undertaken in the start-up hub of Dublin, and will see senior executives from Ticketmaster’s Global HQ in Hollywood, and European HQ in London fly over to join their Irish counterparts.
Ismail El Shareef, VP Open Platform & Innovation at Ticketmaster US, who will be flying over from Hollywood for the event, said on Medium: “The platform is as strong as the community contributing to it…building a community that’s passionate about creating unforgettable moments for fans is critical to the evolution of the platform.”
The Hackathon will be judged by a host of industry experts who will be announced shortly. Tickets are free and are strictly limited, sign up here #TMHackDublin.
