With world leaders meeting in Paris today, musicians have signed an open letter calling for an "ambitious and inspiring international agreement" to tackle future environmental challenges.
After a weekend in Paris marked by the placing of ten thousand shoes at Place de Republique, a symbolic protest against the refusal by the French state to allow the expected two hundred thousand protesters to march for climate change awareness, it seems that the attention again today is being drawn towards the world leaders meeting in the French capital.
Musicians from across the world have signed an open letter in a bid to put pressure on world leaders to act strongly against climate change. Musicians such as Björk, Courtney Bartnett, David Gilmour and Robert Plant have all put their weight behind the campaign.
The campaign was organised by Julie's Bicycle. The campaign's goals include, "An ambitious commitment to climate action, starting now, that will limit future global warming to below 2.0°C (3.6 °F) relative to pre-industrial levels", and also "A legally robust and accountable global climate governance framework and implementation strategy that we will be able to support."
