Having previously announced that he wasn’t going to tour his new 9 album, Damien Rice has announced a 10-date US tour, which kicks off on November 13 in LA’s El Rey Theater and then takes in New York, Oakland, Boston, Upper Darby, Washington and Chicago before winding-up on December 20 at Minneapolis’ Orpheum Theater.
Support throughout is provided by The Swell Seasons, a.k.a. Glen Hansard and his Czech mates Marketa Irglova, Marja Tuhkanen and Bertrand Galen.
Rice has also confirmed that his only Irish TV appearance of the year will be as part of RTRs The Two Sounds: Other Voices, which is being filmed between December 1 and 5 in St. James’ Church, Dingle.
Tickets for these limited-capacity shows go on sale at 9am on Friday November 3 through www.tickets.ie, although it looks like you’ll be buying blind.
The televised highlights will air on RTÉ Two early in the New Year.
Internationally, Damo is an extremely busy boy with The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (November 9); Later With Jools Holland (10); Conan O’Brien (17); TOTP2 (18); and Jo Whiley’s Live Lounge (24) all awaiting.
He’s also following in U2’s footsteps by making a Live At Abbey Road appearance, precise date to follow.
