Cranberries come home?

Will they or won't they? Rumours are rife as to whether the Cranberries are currently organising a landmark live show in their Limerick hometown - their first in years. The band, meanwhile, maintain a dignified silence

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 13 Feb 2002

As the Cranberries commence the European leg of their current world tour, details of an Irish date remain unconfirmed.

While the band’s publicist Lyndsey Holmes was unable to comment on rumours of a late summer concert in the band’s home county of Limerick, Lucy Williams, a spokesperson for Greenmount Race Track in Limerick, told hotpress.com that while the venue were in talks regarding a possible appearance by the band, no details or dates have been confirmed.

Meanwhile, MCD's Justin Green refused to comment on whether or not MCD were in negotiations regarding a Cranberries live Irish date.

"It isn’t fair on the fans to speculate at this stage," said Mr Green. "There’s little point in getting people's hopes up while nothing has been confirmed. It’s not fair on the fans.

"There’s no point in fans wasting money on phone calls to us or to Ticketmaster at this time. When there is more information, if indeed MCD are involved, we will release those details in due course."
