First though comes the Phil Lynott exhibition at this weekend's Music Show!
Thin Lizzy have their classic Decca albums re-released on October 8.
1971’s Thin Lizzy, 1972’s Shades Of A Blue Orphanage and 1973’s Vagabonds Of The Western World have all been digitally re-mastered and feature a wealth of bonus material.
These include new live or John Peel/Bob Harris session versions of nuggets like ‘Black Boys On The Corner’, ‘Whiskey In The Jar’, ‘Things Ain’t Working Out Down At The Farm’, ‘Suicide’ and ‘Little Girl In Bloom’. Add in a load of 1979 overdubs – ‘Sarah’, ‘Dublin’ and ‘Look What The Wind Blew In’ sound particularly good in their remixed form – and no self-respecting fan will want to be without them.
Of more immediate concern is the Music Show in the RDS where Philomena Lynott will be launching an extensive exhibition of Phil memorabilia at 3pm this Saturday.
The following day finds former Lizzy manager Frank Murray taking part in our Making Millions Or Losing Your Shirt – The Publicity Machine & The Perils Of Running Live Music & Other Events panel discussion. We'd be extremely surprised if Lizzy's legendary shows at the likes of Dalymount, National Stadium and Slane don't get a mention at some stage!
The Music Show, presented by Hot Press in association with RTÉ 2fm, runs from October 2nd-3rd in The RDS, Dublin. Saturday 2nd October 10 am - 6.30 pm, Sunday 3rd October 11 am - 6.30 pm.
