We sat down with the outspoken Senator back in 1984...
As David Norris faces criticisism for his fiery outburst yesterday over the Seanad - he accused Fine Gael's Regina Doherty of "talking through her fanny" - we've had a rummage through our archive and found this 1984 interview with the Independent Senator.
Speaking to Declan Lynch, the then 39-year-old chats about job security; “I’ve never been on the job market. I just kind of melted into one at Trinity...", Ireland's changing attitude to homosexuality; "[Gay] was an unmentionable subject. It wasn’t mentioned as slang, it wasn’t mentioned in scientific or sociological terms", and his appearance on the Late Late Show; "Apparently, there were quite a lot of complimentary calls, but there was one from the staff at the Talbot Hotel in Wexford, who were disgusted!"
