Franz Ferdinand are asking their army of Irish admirers to help them assemble their first DVD.
“From their first Irish appearance in The Village supporting Interpol to the amazing gig they played before Christmas in the Olympia, the band have always had a brilliant time here,” says a spokesman. “What we’re after is jpegs and mpegs of fans at Franz Ferdinand gigs, and MP3 and Mpeg messages they’d like to send the band. Sadly, we can’t offer any money for images used, though you will have the glory of featuring on the DVD, which will be released in the autumn.”
Contributions should be sent to [email protected] to arrive no later than June 20.
In the meantime, the Hotpress Newsdesk has had a sneak preview of 11 of the tracks that are in contention for the new Franz album – ‘Evil And A Heathen’, ‘Well, That Was Easy’, ‘What You Meant’, ‘You Can Have It So Much Better’, ‘I’m Your Villain’, ‘Robert Anderson Is Christ’, ‘Radio’, ‘This Boy’, ‘Your Diary’ and ‘Walk Away’.
The verdict? Another classic-in-the-making with some songs that are rockier than others before, and others where the band slow things right down. Indeed, ‘Walk Away’ qualifies as the band’s first bona fide ballad.
