The songwriting wizard’s big night will be shared by Cathy Jordan, Sean Keane, Eimear Quinn and Anthony Kearns and other guests
A major night featuring the songs and stories of Brendan Graham has been announced for the National Concert Hall in Dublin. The evening is being promoted by Tommy Swarbrigg and takes place on Thursday, 12 October.
Brendan Graham is a a two-time Eurovision winner with ‘The Voice’ (1994) and ‘Rock ’n’ Roll Kids’ (1996). But in a long and highly distinguished career, during which his songs have sold over 100 million units, he is probably best known as the lyricist responsible for ‘You Raise Me Up’ – written with Secret Garden’s Rolf Løvland – which ranks among the most popular and iconic songs of the new millennium. In addition to appearing on countless albums, and being used in major advertising campaigns, whether in English or translated into a dozen different languages, it has been performed at the Super Bowl; the Olympic Games; the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony; the opening of the Northern Ireland Assembly, and many more major public occasions.
The evening will feature the talents of some of Ireland’s finest singers, including Cathy Jordan of Dervish, Sean Keane, the celebrated tenor Anthony Kearns and Eimear Quinn. Backing will be provided by The Orchestra of Ireland and Choir, conducted by David Brophy. Other vocalists featured will include Paul Harrington & Charlie McGettigan ('Rock 'n' Roll Kids'), Helene Bokse from Norway and rising young Irish star Anabel Sweeney, who has been the winner of three High Achiever Awards from the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

The concert will also feature a rare performance by Brendan Graham himself and will tell the stories behind the songs. It will also feature a spoken word piece ‘Effin Songs’, which takes a humorous look at songwriting.
