Leading Irish musicians create new score based on Todd Browning’s 1931 retelling of the Dracula story.
This October Bank Holiday weekend, Dublin plays host to the Bram Stoker Festival, which entails four days of living stories and four nights of deadly adventures in venues across the city from October 28 to 31.
Films fans and the culturally curious can rejoice as leading Irish musicians Matthew Nolan and Sean Mac Erlaine have created a new score for Todd Browning’s 1931 classic movie Dracula. Dracula Live takes place at the National Concert Hall on Saturday October 29 at 8pm.
The original of Todd Browning’s Dracula had no musical score apart from about 60 seconds of classical music played at the start and another 45 seconds in the middle. Sean and Matthew’s score will only be the second time in the history of the film where new original music will be created and then performed live.
